Modified Bitumen

A modified bitumen (MB) roofing system is a low-slope roofing system. It is a very reliable roofing system when correctly installed. An MB membrane is reinforced with polyester, fiberglass or a combination of the two. This makeup gives it strength and provides an effective roofing system that is very puncture resistance.

The asphalt, or bitumen, is the waterproofing element. It has also been improved with polymers. Sometimes you will see mineral granules or metal foil on the surface with a variety of colors, and you can also see the surface not covered and left smooth. Although the roof is often referred to as rubber or a rubberized roof, it is not the same as a Rubber EPDM roof

Why Modified Bitumen Roofing System

The state of Georgia, and Atlanta to be specific, has extremely harsh summer temperatures. Like many of the other systems we choose to install, modified bitumen can withstand harsh weather conditions like those often found in Atlanta. Modified bitumen is known to be highly waterproof and durable. These two factors alone make it a roofing system of choice for many facility managers not to mention the typical lifespan of MB and the competitive cost when compared to other roofing systems.

At B&L, we have years of experience working on Modified Bitumen and other roofing systems. Regardless of what your roofing need is, we can help. Contact us today to speak to one of our professionals if your commercial roof is in need of expert attention.
