Advantages of Metal Roofing

The U.S is no stranger to severe hurricane winds or inclement weather. While materials like asphalt shingles don’t stand a chance against massive blow offs caused by the riotous wind, metal roofing does.  It is not an unusual scene to see a lone metal roof surrounded by its less resilient roof-less neighbors. You can rest assured that your investment is protected, as the advantages of metal roofing are superfluous.

Expected life
If properly installed, a metal roof can last three times as long as asphalt shingle roofs. It completely seals out water, withstands wind uplift of up to 110 miles per hour and higher and easily sheds snow and ice, which helps prevent Ice Dams. Other longevity benefits include:
  • Does not rot, crack, warp, curl, etc.
  • Provides excellent corrosion protection
  • Most resistant roofing material to hail, wind, fire, and freezing/thawing
Eco-friendly
Metal Roof is green building material that earns green building credits. It can also be out-fitted with solar roofing panels for standing seam roofs. This reflection of solar radiant heat can save up to 40 percent on cooling costs. Convenient
Metal roofs are available in wide variety of roofing styles, patterns, designs, and colors. They are lightweight, with most of their styles being less than one-third the weight of asphalt/ fiberglass shingles. For those with little time to worry about maintaining their roof, metal roofs are perfect. They are low maintenance and can usually be installed over your existing roof (reroofing) if you want to change things up. Cost effective
While metal roofing may seem expensive, there are some cost benefits. Since the possibility of roof leaks and on-going roof repairs is significantly reduced with a metal roof, maintenance costs are far less than with other roofs. In addition, metal roofs are energy efficient, so you’re a/c and heating bills will be reduced as well. Ultimately, it upraises the value of your building or home and pays for itself. Not to mention some insurance companies even provide a reduced rate for metal roofs, because of it’s longevity and long-lasting warranty.
